Not Your Average Donuts

These come topped with bacon and candy

Do you like candy? Do you like donuts? What about candy on your donuts? If so, then you’ll want to check out Cabo’s newest donut shop. Munchin Donuts is all about what goes on top of the donut. Toppings include everything from Snickers to Oreos to peanut butter and jelly, even bacon.

Munchin Donuts didn’t invent the donut, but they did reinvent it.

The franchise was started in Tijuana in 2015 by two guys who wanted to create donuts that were not only delicious, but also beautiful. In late January, Cabo local Alfonso Lopez opened his franchise here and is carrying on the art of creative donut making.

You can order the Snoop Dogg donut, which has vanilla frosting covered in Fruit Loops; the Michael Jackson, which is covered with Galletas (a Mexican cookie that’s kind of like a graham cracker) and Oreos; the King Kong, covered with Nutella and plantains; the Lewandowsky with maple and bacon pieces… and the list goes on.  And on.

The Munchin Donuts menu lists 22 donuts with different topping combos. You can also request different topping combinations to suit your own creative taste. Donuts cost about $1.62 USD each.

friend and I visited the shop on a Saturday morning and ordered a dozen donuts, so we could try a little of each one. The donuts aren’t like the average glazed donut you find in the States. The consistency is more like cake but is a bit drier and not very sweet. We thought the actual donuts were kind of plain, but the toppings made up for it.

Alfonso orders the plain donuts from the franchise bakery, then decorates them at his shop when you order. He’s the nicest guy ever, but doesn’t speak English. No worries, the menu is mostly in English and very easy to understand. If you have a question, he has an app on his phone to translate for you.

The shop is small, but it’s cute and there are a couple of white leather benches and sofas to sit on while waiting for your order. They have a few donuts on display to set your mouth watering the minute you walk in.

Munchin Donuts is on the back side of Plaza Pioneros, on your left as you drive into Cabo, with the entrance facing Camino Real Street. They’re open from noon to 8 pm on Mondays and from 9 am to 8 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. For more information, visit
