Grand Opening at Captains Sunset Bar Held In La Paz

Captains Sunset Bar is located on the Marina in La Paz. The establishment was purchased by the owners of Baja Charters of Cabo San Lucas. Their office is located next to the Tesoro Resort and Hotel just a few doors from Dairy Queen.

On Sunday, February 16, they entertained guests at their grand opening. At the grand opening, the wonderful music of Lisa Sanders and her Caborado Band played from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Many danced on the dance floor and others viewed events on their five large T.V. screens. All drinks were $1.00 USD along with a complimentary banquet. Captains Sunset Bar also treated guests to a Sunset Cruise on the Baja Cat along with ground transportation from Cabo to La Paz.

Going forward, Captains Sunset Bar will host viewing events. A great spot to attend sporting events and nature documentaries while having a premiere view of the Marina. They also have special event nights such as Tequila Tuesdays complete with classes and tasting, Whiskey Wednesday, and Salsa Saturday where you can dance the night away Mexican style. The establishment is dog-friendly, and you will most likely have the opportunity to meet their dog that they rescued from a strong tropical storm in Cabo. Max is a Siberian Huskey, a beautiful white wolf with stunning silver-blue eyes.

Captains Sunset Bar offers a variety of cocktails including the Mango Martini which consists of Captain Morgan Parrot Bay mango rum, peach schnapps, Cointreau orange liqueur, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice. Another unique specialty is the Pirate's Treasure, a fun party shot that is created with Goldschläger Cinnamon Schnapps and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum.

Both cocktails were presented at the Caboholics Cocktail Competition on February 12 to benefit El Ranchito in San Jose, the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department, and Feeding Los Cabos kids. Additional foundations they sponsor are Mar Libre, a non-profit, conservation and educational program focused on the restoration of reefs and mangroves in the Sea of Cortez, Cabo Pulmo Reef Preservation, which is an underwater national park, was formed in 1995 by the Mexican government at the request of the fishing families of the tiny village of Cabo Pulmo, and Baja Charters is a contributing partner to the Leave No Trace association, and actively promotes its outdoor ethics programs.

The menu that Chef Zhado prepares includes bar appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, and classic sandwiches along with mix fajitas, flank steak, and grilled chicken breast. There is also spaghetti with bolognese or alfredo sauce. If you wish to sit at a table opposed to the bar, table options include tables on the walkway of the Marina or through the arch in the back of the bar by the Marina Front Hotel infinity pool. The Marina Front Hotel, located on the property, is a complex with the Marina, yacht club, and also has condominiums and villas. It is the official headquarters of the most important national and international fishing tournaments in the city of La Paz.

The owners of Captains and Baja Charters own the Baja Cat, a 60-foot spacious sailing catamaran. It is docked on dock 5 directly in front of Captains Marina Bar & Restaurant along with their 96-foot Pacifica cruising yacht that is on the breakwater dock in front of the restaurant but further out due to size. Baja Charters offers an all-inclusive two and a half hour premium Sunset and Harbor Cruise aboard Baja Cat. The Baja Cat is a large, stable sailing catamaran with inside air conditioning.
