East Cape Art Show

140 artist/vendors, live music, and food booths

The 23nd annual East Cape art festival will once again be held at the Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Los Barriles. Oh come on, it’s a nice hour and a half ride up the paved twolane from San Jose. Piece o cake.

2016 spring festival show poster.jpgIt goes from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 20 and is the labor of  the Asociación de Artes of the East Cape, which is the Gringo run association of assorted artsie fartsie types raising and administering money to support local children’s artsie fartsie activities. This will be a collection of local artists who display and sell their original hand made art.

You can browse through the approximately 140 vendors hawking  oil, acrylic, water color paintings, pottery, wood and glass stuff. There will be creations of  fabric, flowers, silver, gold and precious stones.

There will be food booths set up,  including the old stand bys of the Palmas carne asada taco stand, Sausage Girls out of La Paz, and Seth’s Panaderia, among others. Of course there is a bar, how else are they going to get the husbands there?

There will be a stage for live music by The Bluz Expolsion from LaPaz, and you are expected to get up and dance. Or not.  Best of all, this is free.

Profits from the Festival de Artes go to support the community activities of the association, which include arts and education supplies for East Cape schools, sponsorship and participation in the Los Barriles summer vacation program, local artist studio tours, and the Saturday arts and crafts classes for the local children.

The hotel dominates the town, you can’t miss it, just drive out the fourlane past the airport and don’t fall off the road until you see Los Barriles on your right. www.festivaldeartes23@gmail .com.        624-124-8054.
