And food too, but we all know what’s going to get you out of your easy chair and into your car.

Wine Festival in Todos Santos. The 5th Annual GastroVino Baja Food and Wine festival will take place this April 22, 23 & 24 in Todos Santos, with two small wine and dine pairings and the traditional fiesta at the magic town’s main plaza.

These are Baja wine focused events, with some of the best Baja wine makers showing off their spirits and teaching us about them, while you enjoy live music and delectable food from various Todos Santos restaurants.

The Friday Baja Midnight “Bohemian Night” will take place at the Hotel California with an hour long interactive lecture on Mexican viticultural history. What’s an interactive lecture? Does that mean we’re going to drink through it? We can hope.

Starting at 8:00 pm Pepe Sosa and the Todos Santos band will entertain with a special appearance by former Grammy winner Terry Townson wailing on his trumpet. Hopefully from across the street, since trumpets in a closed in restaurant are tough to take.

Regional cheeses, cured meats, baked breads, fresh oysters, organic veggies, and more will make up the tapas selection, paired with bubblies, whites, rosés and a variety of reds. The cost is 750 pesos a person, which is like about 60 Gringo bucks. Well, not so bad if they’re generous with the booze, but one never knows.....

On Saturday at noon at Chez Laura restaurant, you can taste 12 mystery wines split into four random groups by the master enologist. That’s a wino to you, Bunky.  For the know nothing novice, this is a chance to educate your palette and explore the Baja wine world, guided by a true pro. (The head wino, who you will know by the little wine thing hanging from his neck. The bling is called a tastevin and it looks like a hallow metal cup and couldn’t actually hold much.

The top three accurate wine tasters will snag prizes. Tickets for this are 250 pesos.

In the evening on Saturday you will meet at La Bodega de Todos Santos at 6:00 pm sharp for the GastroTour. This is a pairing adventure where one tapa is paired with one wine at each downtown Todos Santos participating restaurant. There will be live music everywhere and a funky dance after party at La Bohemia Hotel Pequeño. Tickets 350 pesos, or 300 pesos on pre-sale.

This fifth annual event will culminates with the main event in the main plaza of Todos Santos. More than 10 of Mexico’s best wineries and wine makers and more than 15 local restaurants will combine with musicians to make this springtime gastronomical event the best one yet. Entrance fee 550 pesos or 450 if you buy in advance.
