We want to thank all of the Gringo Gazette’s precious readers for helping us make our Paws and Claws golf tournament such a great success. It would not have been possible with out all of you.

I wanted to give you an update on our activities we have undertaken on your behalf, and share some news about our staff.

Cecilia Montaño has been promoted to general manager, her day off is Sunday. Long time volunteer and supporter Summer Lorenz is now working with us part time. She is off on Fridays. We have hired an administrative assistant, Malena Becerra, who  is off on Sundays.  Josue Garcia, who has now been with us over a year, is off on Wednesday and works a half day on Tuesday.

Our numbers through March 31st are over our projected goal. Adoptions, 126.

The adoption center has been painted and general maintenance was done on the hurricane shutters and other areas of the center. A door bell has been installed by the main entrance, please use it if you are dropping animals off before or after office hours.

The cat house has had some improvements using recycled materials. The Wall of Hope plaques containing names of donors have been almost completely replaced. Plaques are still available for a donation of $500 USD.

We continue working with our adoption parters in Calgary and Portland and almost always need critter handlers on Alaska air to Portland or West Jet to Calagary. We provide everything you need, meeting you at the airport in San Jose, as we just need you to be on the same plane and hand over the animal to the new mom and dad upon arrival.

The pet of the day on facebook has been very helpful in increasing local adoption interest, as has the announcements in the GG. Please help us by sharing the posts.

Clinics in San Jose neighborhoods are being given on Tuesdays and Thursdays, clinics are performed at the adoption center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Our vet is off on Sundays. Dr. Eriksen Becerra will be performing 55 spay and neuters a month for us out of his new clinic in San Jose. His clinic will also be our new intake center in San Jose. He is in Las Veredas, his clinic is very well equipped and kept, and we are very happy to be collaborating with him. His number is 6241504007 and 6242290519.

Here are some volunteer opportunities, surely one of these will fit your interests.

Dog walking and cat loving at the adopting center.

Showing animals at the organic market in Pedregal Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Showing animals at the organic market in San Jose on Saturdays

Please email me if you are interested in volunteering for one of those activities.

Please make sure you check out our Facebook page and website for updates, upcoming events, promotions offered, and bussiness that support us, as well as more ways to get in involved.

We thank you for your continued support.
