Egg House Inspired By Yurts

Is it an egg, a concrete yurt, or has Luke moved his hut from Tatooine to Pescadero?

The unique and stunning architecture of the Sand Dome Homes are enclosed in a private compound hovering on the edge of a cliff with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean directly below

Betty Marvin, wife of late actor Lee Marvin and author of “Tales of a Hollywood Housewife” was the vision behind these intriguing architectural forms. She was inspired after a trip here, she says. “I was on the beach in Baja, remembering the sand castles I used to build as a child. When I got home I opened a copy of Dwell Magazine - and there was an article on solar sand castles, built by Nader Khalili of Cal Earth. Khalili became my mentor and dear friend as I learned the process of building eco-domes.”

Betty Marvin spent many winters living in her sand castles by the sea. Earlier this year she sold this unusual property to two people who plan to live in the solar powered Sand Domes. May the Force be with
them!
