September 17. Thursday. 7:00 pm. Odissi Dance by Shanti Maya. As part of the International Festival for the Peace 9th Edition. Alianza Francesa cultural center at 525 Gomez Farias St. between Republica St and  Guerrero St. Esterito town, La Paz. Spanish and some English. Free.

PERLA NEGRA.

El Faro Beach club

November 27, 28 and 29. Todos Santos International Guitar Festival.  A community-funded, musician-supported festival that produces a world class show with a tiny budget with all profits going to the local childrens’ charity. 30+ guitarists from all genres and from all corners of the globe come together for 3 days of camaraderie and musical collaboration. www.tsigf.com.  CABO SAN LUCAS

September 10. Thursday. 7:30 pm. Huicholes: The Last Peyotes Guardians (2014).  Documentary tells the story of the Huichole Indians, one of the last pre-Hispanic cultures in Latin America and their struggle against the Mexican government and multinational mining corporations. An unequal and controversial fight that triggers the global debate between ancient cultural values, the exploitation of nature, and the inevitable development of the people. Spanish with English subtitles. Free.

November 11-15, 2015 4th Los Cabos International Film Festival.  

 

MARINA FRONT

Every Saturday. From 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Cultural circuit. Art exhibition by local artists, workshops, paint, sculpture, photography, food tasting, theater, live music and dance. Spanish. Free. Various parts of the malecon. Except not Saturday April 4 because it’s Good Satruday or something like that.

 

CASA CARACOL UNA RANA

YANDI MONARDO ART GALLERY

 July 22 until September. Opening Wednesday. From 7pm to 9 pm. Art exhibition by the muralist Leonardo Díaz. Paint and other arts expressions created by the local artist. Yandi Monardo Art Gallery featuring different artists who live in or are inspired by Baja. New artist exhibit every 45 days. YM Art Gallery is inside the Luxury Avenue mall at the marina. CENTRO CULTURAL LA PAZ

From Monday to Friday. 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. On permanent display.  Man, nature and culture (Hombre, Naturaleza y Cultura).  Photography collective exhibition. A permanent photography show that highlights the special characteristics that make up the cultural identity of Baja California Sur. A video showcasing BCS complements the photographs. In the Codex Península of the Centro Cultural La Paz, located on 16 de Septiembre at the corner of Belisario Dominguez. Text is in English and Spanish. Free.

CENTRO DE ARTES Y CULTURAS POPULARES

From April 20 to indeterninate date. Monday to Friday. 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Oaxaca pottery exhibition. A collection of Oaxacan decorative black pottery (barro negro) which comes from a village that specializes in crafting the unusual, and beautiful pieces. Posted information in English and Spanish. This cultural center is on Madero St. between 5 de Mayo and Independencia, across the street from Velasco garden. Free.

  

SAN JOSE

CIRCOTEKA Angela Ceseña St. between the fourlane and Barlovento St.

Every Thursday. 7:00 pm. Libroteca at the Circoteka. Reading club for kids. Actors disguised read and act a short story for the kids. BUENA VISTA
